Learn photography

in a hands-on environment

During this 3 night, 4 day, retreat, you’ll have the opportunity to learn photography in a hands-on environment with Courtney & Trisha. We want to help you discover your unique story through your lens.

You’ll dive deeper into manual mode, rules of composition, learning how to see light, and go behind the scenes to see how we edit in Adobe Lightroom Classic.

Specifically curated storytelling activities like a textile weaving class & a food photography session will allow you to practice your skills, as well as try your hand at other creative outlets.

You’ll also be given an opportunity to have a personalized feedback session where Courtney & Trisha will share insights and suggestions on a selection of your images.

Experience Texas

in the idyllic hill country of Dripping Springs

We’ll be joined by the incredibly talented Zanny Cox for a hand led, textile weaving experience. Through this textile weaving activity you’ll not only learn about what Zanny calls her ‘moving meditation’ process, as a way to calm her mind, but you’ll also have an opportunity to photograph the story of your experience.

Carol Johnson from the Zero Gravity Institute will be joining us to take us on a meditative journey through a crystal bowl sound bath. Harnessing the reverberating sounds & vibrations of her bowls, Carol will transform our time together towards a meditative & reflective state of mind & create a welcome escape from any anxieties or stressful thoughts you might be holding onto.

Our trip wouldn’t be complete without visiting one of the coolest distilleries in Hill Country, Treaty Oak Distilling. We’ll take a tour of the distillation process to learn more about each aspect of their production from their barrels, ingredient sourcing & sustainability. After, we’ll lounge with a crafted cocktail while working on both our storytelling & lighting knowledge to create the perfect afternoon tale.

Fresh, colorful meals will be provided by our private, local chef. We want to drive community, centered around the local food culture. Meal made with real, simple ingredients, each meal prepared by our chef will be sure to inspire & delight.

Meet Trisha & Courtney

Nine years ago, on an island in Japan, Courtney and Trisha met on their way to a hotel laundry room and quickly became fast friends. While living in different parts of the country for the past few years they’ve spent countless hours on the phone talking life, raising kids, moving, photography, travel and business.

After years of running separate online photography websites and attending other in-person workshops, the two started dreaming of creating a female focused, intimate photography retreat setting of their own. In early 2018, We Wanderers Retreat was born.

Courtney and Trisha have spent most of their adult lives as wanderers. As military spouses and individuals, they’ve traveled the globe in search of beauty and inspiration, camera in hand. Together they have a combined total of 15 years photography experience and have so much they are ready to share with you.
