Learn photography

in a hands-on environment

This October, immerse yourself in the rich fall foliage of rural Maine with Trisha & Courtney at the We Wanderers Retreat.

Get lost in the quiet countryside where you’ll spend your time at our quaint farmhouse destination, nestled just minutes from the banks of the Medomak River. 83 acres of pristine pasture & hearty woodland offer an idyllic setting for our unique forest escape, just north of Portland, Maine.

Learn photography in an intimate atmosphere as we dive into the art of creative storytelling, experience a macrame weaving class, relax with a grounding morning yoga session & spend an afternoon foraging for ingredients for our wild cocktail class.

During this 3 night, 4 day, retreat, you’ll have the opportunity to learn photography in a hands on environment with Courtney & Trisha. We want to help you discover your unique story through your lens. You’ll dive deeper into the technical side of photography, composition for telling your story, learning how to see light in any given environment & go behind the scenes to see how we edit in Lightroom Classic. Specifically curated storytelling activities will allow you to practice your skills, as well as learn other creative pursuits.

You’ll also be given an opportunity to have a personalized feedback session where Courtney & Trisha will share insights & suggestions on a gallery of your images.

Experience Maine

Immerse yourself in the quiet countryside October 17-20, 2019

We’ll be joined by the incredibly talented Lindsey Mattei, a New England local artist who specializes in fiber art, mixed media, and acrylic paintings. Lindsey will be leading us in an afternoon of fiber art making with a class that will focus on creating a one-of-a-kind macrame plant hanger that you will be bringing home with you.

Further enhance your retreat experience as we spend a morning relaxing & centering ourselves during a gentle yoga session.

To fully immerse ourselves in the Maine outdoors, we’ll take a one hour foraging walk with the incredible Nikaline Lacono, from Vessel & Vine. She’ll lead us as we gather & learn about certain plants and mushrooms we might encounter. After, we’ll return to the indoors for a cocktail class, where we’ll utilize ingredients we found on our foraging walk, as well as syrups, bitters & infusions Nikaline will have prepared with foraged items relevant to the season like berries, roots & mushrooms!

Fresh, colorful meals will be provided by Jess Caven, the in house chef at our farm oasis. Jess has a passion for using seasonal elements as well as working closely to source as many ingredients locally by maintaining close relationships with nearby farmers.

Gain confidence & build your portfolio with a variety of photography opportunities. We’ll explore various concepts like food photography & styling as well as learning key components to successfully capturing people in front of your lens.

Meet Trisha & Courtney

Ten years ago, on an island in Japan, Courtney and Trisha met on their way to a hotel laundry room and quickly became fast friends. While living in different parts of the country for the past few years they’ve spent countless hours on the phone talking life, raising kids, moving, photography, travel and business.

After years of running separate online photography websites and attending other in-person workshops, the two started dreaming of creating a female focused, intimate photography retreat setting of their own. In early 2018, We Wanderers Retreat was born.

Courtney and Trisha have spent most of their adult lives as wanderers. As military spouses and individuals, they’ve traveled the globe in search of beauty and inspiration, camera in hand. Together they have a combined total of 15 years photography experience and have so much they are ready to share with you.
